Community Helpers!

This month we are learning all about community helpers!

A community helper can be anyone that provides services to people in the community. Most often we think of teachers, doctors, policemen, and firemen as community helpers. These are all wonderful examples of community helpers, but there are many more wonderful examples that we often overlook.

Parents help your child think of an "overlooked" community helper that you admire and tell us about them!

  1. A sometimes overlooked community helper is a librian. They provide us with many books to share and help to take care of them.

  2. The postmen are sometimes overlooked. They deliver cards and letters that help us stay connected with our families.

  3. Lifeguards at the beach are over looked community helpers. They risk their lives saving people when they are in danger in rough waters.

    1. This is a great example! We have had a lot of double red flags flying at the beach lately! Thank goodness we have lifegaurds!

  4. Another community helper is the weatherman or weatherwoman. They keep us safe by informing us of severe weather and help us plan outdoor events.

  5. This is so true! Currently our weathermen are keeping us up to date about Tropical Storm Debby! Hopefully we will not get too much damage from her!

  6. Bus Drivers are often overlooked and under appreciated. Bus drivers get us to and from school and get us around town if we don’t have a car of our own!

  7. The men and women that work for the power company are extremely imporant to us. Whenever we have power shortages, those brave people are out in dangerous climates in order to help get the citizens of our area the electricity to continue living comfortably and safely.
